Each year during this season, Dutch Growers offers a fun Pumpkin Maze in addition to their beautiful garden centre and gift shop.  The maze is designed using hay bales that are stacked 4 feet high, and is perfect for children aged preschool to grade 2.  Adults will also have a blast with the kids, helping them figure the way out through the maze.  Or play a game of hide-n-seek with the pumpkins hidden within the maze.  And, of course, they also have pumpkins of different shapes and colours for sale.

There are also tables and hay bale seats on where you can enjoy your snacks.  Dutch Growers provides crayons and colouring pages for the kids.  You're also welcome to bring your own crafts to decorate a pumpkin you've purchased from them.  Groups of 6 or more should call to book an appointment.

Admission to the maze is $2 per child (cash only) or a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Regina Food Bank.  Dutch Growers is proud that this fundraiser is the largest of its kind that takes place outside of grocery stores.

With lots of activities for the whole family, you can easily spend a whole day at this family-owned and operated vegetable farm.  While you're there, you'll want to buy some of their fresh produce, pick your own raspberries in their U-Pick Berry Fields (available by appointment only), or shop their Garden Centre and Gift Shop for yourself or your next gift idea.  Best of all, it's FREE to visit!

Annual family events include the Corn Roast (in August) and the ever popular Pumpkin Festival (in October).  The Pumpkin Festival is a must-see event with a straw bale obstacle course, haunted house, face painting and pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins!  New this year is a photo booth to help you capture that family memory.  And you won't go hungry at the festival as there will be delicious pumpkin soup (a dish that even non-pumpkin eaters will love); beverages such as apple cider and coffee to warm your insides; and hot dogs for sale with proceeds going to support the Inhlase Project.  This year's Pumpkin Festival is on October 16 from 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM.

Corn Maiden Market is open daily starting in July and until the end of October, with the Garden Centre open at the beginning of May each year, and the U-Pick Berry Fields open in early July.  The Pumpkin Patch opens yearly in September until October, and is a great place to start a family tradition by choosing from the largest selection of pumpkins in Saskatchewan with over 15 varieties ranging in size and colour.  Can't make it out to Lumsden?  Corn Maiden Market's produce is also available at the Regina Farmers' Market.

A Maize in Saskatchewan A CORN MAIZE IN SASKATCHEWAN
Highway 1 (3.24km south of Pilot Butte turn-off)
Closed for the 2011 Season due to frost damage

East of Regina, on Highway 1, just south of Pilot Butte is A Corn Maize in Saskatchewan--Saskatchewan's original maze.  Don't worry about getting lost in the maze (unless you want to) as maps are provided, and there are signs along the paths to guide you along on your adventure.  Kids of all ages, from infants to 80+, will enjoy weaving in and out through the 10-acre corn maze.

Each year, A Corn Maize is designed with a theme that reflects what's great about Saskatchewan.  In the past, they've celebrated the Saskatchewan Centennial, the Saskatchewan Roughrider Grey Cup Championship, and just how much they love Saskatchewan with the Saskatchewan Coat of Arms.  Admission is $9 (adults), $6 (children 5-12), $25 (family up to 5 members), and FREE for children 4 and under.  For special bookings or groups of 15+, please call 306-924-4217 or email.

In addition to the maze, you'll also find several other activities.  There are mini mazes for the younger children, which are "no left-turn" mazes using hay bales that are 2 feet high.  Everyone will have fun jumping off the 6-feet-high hay jump and landing in the broken-up hay that's fluffed, separated and kept at a safe depth and height.  Immerse yourself in the very popular Pea Pit--a sandbox-life attraction that's 12 x 12 feet and filled with peas that are 2 feet deep.  For those adventurous enough to try something new, check out Airball--a new game invented by a local Saskatchewan guy that incorporates the game of mini golf using a tennis ball in the air.  And then there's the campfire zone--a circular area marked by flax straw bales with hay benches, picnic tables, and a fire pit in the centre.  They supply the wood; you bring your own food and sticks so that you can enjoy your very own campfire meal.  Mmmm...smores anyone?

The season wraps up with Halloween events on the last 2 days of October.  A Corn Maize is decorated with spooky and scary things that await you as you wander through.  Watch your step or you might just fall into a trap!  During the day, there's also a scavenger hunt and a pumpkin carving contest that's fun for the whole family.  Don't forget to wear your costumes!  Please note:  the maze is a spooky place to be in on any night when the sun goes down.  So, we recommend evenings at A Corn Maize for families with older children.

Normally, A Corn Maize is Saskatchewan is open yearly from August until October 31.  This year, unfortunately, A Corn Maize is closed to frost damage.  However, owner Bruce Osiowy is optimistic and determined to get A Corn Maize ready for fun next year!
