KinderBuzz Family Friendly May 2016 events and things to do kids



Summer is right around the corner, the weather is warming up and it's time to take the kids outside to some family-friendly, cool events to experience and places to go right here in the Queen City.  May features some of the best kid-friendly things to do, so don't wait.







1.) FREE COMIC BOOK SATURDAY - The first Saturday in the month of May is known as FREE COMIC BOOK SATURDAY!  On May 4, 2019, you can visit Comic Readers -  S. Albert Street or the Comic Readers - Downtown location on 11th Ave. to shop or pick-up a FREE COMIC BOOK.  For more information, please call or visit them online.

2.) MONSTER SPECTACULAR - Saturday, May 4, 2019 come and experience monster trucks and dirt bike show like you have never seen! Hosted by the Brandt Centre. Show starts at 7:00 PM and tickets are onsale now. 

3.) WASCANA CENTRE - If you are looking to get outdoors and be more active, check out the Wascana Centre's Events page.  Every weekend in May, there is a walk/run for a good cause like the Steps for Life, The Walk to Fight Poverty, Lumsden Beach Camp Banana Spring and the Canada Goose 24 Hour.  

 4.) REGINA FARMERS MARKET - First Outdoor Market of the 2019 Season begins Saturday, May 4, 2019 and will be outside every Wednesday and Saturday.  Market opens from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM at City Square Plaza.  Come & explore with the kids and try the FREE Kids Club activities.

5.) SASKATCHEWAN ENTERTAINMENT EXPO  - May 4 & 5, 2019 at the new International Trade Centre, come and meet the voices of your favourite anime characters, take pics with your favourite actors and creators like the FLASH, dress up in your favourite COSPLAY, there are Q + A sessions and photo meet and greets with your favourite celebrities, plus over 150 vendors for shopping. 

6.) REGINA RAILFEST - May 4 and May 5, 2019 at the Callie Curling Club.  Get ready for the largest model train exhibit with over 25,000 square feet of model trains.  Children 4 years and younger are free, Adults are $10 and Youths between 5-16 years old are $5.  Family tickets are available for $20 (2 adults and up to 3 youths).  Visit their facebook page for more details.

7.) STUDIO SUNDAYS AT THE MACKENZIE ART GALLERY - Every Sunday from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, kids of all ages can experience arts and crafts for FREE.  The first Sunday of the month is Storytelling Sunday.  For more information, please visit them online.

8.) KIDS' CRAFT DAY AT VICTORIA SQUARE MALL - Saturday, May 11, 2019 children 10 years old and younger can come and plant a seed and decorate a flower pot for Mother's Day.  This event is FREE by you must register for a time slot.  Time slots are from 12 Noon - 4:00 PM.  To register, visit here.

9.) OPENING DAY TRAIN RIDES with the Western Development Museum Moose Jaw - Does your little one love trains? Come + hop aboard Saskatchewan’s only operating steam locomotive, the K+S Potash Canada Short Line 101. Saturday, May 18th from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the WDM Visitor Services desk.
Admission: $5 per ride (individual) $15 per family per ride (2 adults and dependent children).  This event is weather dependent.

10.) ZIP IN SUMMER EVENT with Outer Edge Adventure Park - Mark your calendars on Saturday, May 18, 2019 is the season opener for zip lining fun in Lumsden. You can book online today by visiting

11.) CHAPTERS INDIGO KIDS EVENTS - On Saturday May 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM bring the kids to unwind with us as we create colourful DIY stress balls with Squoosh-O’s! Call store for details, (306) 596.6060.

12.) SASKATCHEWAN HIGHLAND GATHERING & FESTIVAL - May 18 & 19, 2019.  Kids 12 years old and under are FREE.  There will be lots of activities for kids experience and get involved in on both days.  There will be bouncy castles, children's caber toss, celtic dancing to watch and much more.  There will even be a visit from Princess Merida from BRAVE.

13.) BEAUTY AND THE BEAST AT THE GLOBE THEATRE - Begins May 22, 2019 and runs until June 30, 2019.  Now you can see your favourite Disney Princess, Belle and the Beast, live. Based on the Disney hit movie Beauty and the Beast, this family-friendly musical is fun for all ages. Tickets are on sale now.

14.) CATHEDRAL VILLAGE ARTS FESTIVAL - Runs from May 20th - 25th, 2019. The festival runs for an entire week with great activities and events for everyone all week long.  Funville is on Saturday May 25, 2019 from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM there will be kids activities and entertainment. Funville will be located at Holy Rosary Park (Angus Street & 13th Ave.).  Admission is FREE.

15.) REGINA POLICE SERVICE SHOWCASE -Thursday, May 23, 2019 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.  Watch the Regina Police Service demonstrate live action demos! Tour interactive displays! All for free! Suitable for all ages.  Come visit our officers and partner agencies in the booth, learn about policing, and what our officers do to keep our city safe. Admission is free and doors are open from noon to 3pm. Show starts at 1:30pm.

16.) ROYAL SASKATCHEWAN MUSEUM T.REX GRAND OPENING WEEKEND- Mark your calendars for the highly anticipated, new T. rex gallery opening May 17.  Bring the whole family to see Scotty, the world’s most massive T. rex.

• Party with Munchie the mascot
• Megamunch may feel left out with all the attention on Scotty. Bring him a card or picture and cheer him up!
• Post your best T. rex selfies on Instagram with #Massive2019 to be entered to win an exciting T. rex themed prize.
